When done correctly, waste incineration offers three main benefits.
- This reduces waste volume, reducing the need to landfill. It saves space in landfills and prolongs the life of landfills.
- Some models are able to recover energy from waste. Heat from the incineration process can be converted into steam, which is then used to create electricity. This allows waste plants to self-produce their power.
- The medical waste is sanitised before disposal. Incinerators for medical waste allow the destruction of dangerous materials such as needles, anatomical waste, and blood products in a safe manner.
